1974 Jaguar E-type Series III V12 Roadster




MotorCarTrader.com is thrilled to offer another special Jaguar E-type.  This beautiful 1974 Jaguar E-type Series III V-12 Roadster. This car was built on May 20th of 1974 and the original date of dispatch date was June 11 of 1974. The car is finished in the original color of Regency Red with Black interior. It is a matching numbers car. This Jaguar xke has only 30,550 miles which we believe to be original. We purchased this vehicle in earlier this year and have since invested well over $16,000 to improve the car both cosmetically and mechanically. Previously the car was sitting, so needed to be brought back to life. The car is ready to go, can be driven anywhere and it is truly a pleasure to drive.  Some highlights on this car and also work completed:

  • We converted the ugly black rubber bumpers to the early or European style Series III chrome bumpers in the front and back.  Also, adding the correct aluminum finishing panel to the rear area between the taillights.
  • A new canvas (Stay fast) convertible top installed with new seals.
  • New Wilton wool carpeting throughout the interior and the rear storage box with a new under felt kit installed.
  • New interior upholstery with the new seat covers and center arm rest previously installed.
  • Center console redone.
  • New Michelin 205/70/R15 Defender tires installed with new tubes and wheels balanced.
  • Air conditioning system converted R134A with new receiver dryer.
  • New A/C compressor installed.
  • A/C system blows cold.
  • Carburetors tuned and timing adjusted.
  • New fuel and air filters installed.
  • New Pertronix electric ignition kit installed with new spark plugs, cap, rotor and wires.
  • All grease fittings lubed
  • Replace fuel lines as needed.
  • New oil sending unit installed.
  • New brake master cylinder and brake booster installed.  Brake soft lines replaced and system flushed.
  • The engine compression was tested (cold) about a month ago and the  results were excellent of 125 to 145 psi on all 12 cylinders.
  • New water rail gaskets installed.
  • New voltage regulator.
  • New Stainless steel exhaust system installed.
  • New torsion bars installed
  • New front shocks installed.
  • Rear end (rear suspension) cage mounts replaced.
  • New rear end pinion seal and rear end differential fluid serviced.
  • New radiator hose kit installed.
  • New exterior mirror adjust assembly installed.
  • New heat riser tubes (fresh air tubes).
  • New water pump installed.
  • A new retro radio was installed which is satellite radio compatible.
  • The paint was buffed and some minor paint work done.
  • A paint meter was placed all over this car before we purchased it. The readings were excellent throughout with no evidence of poor body work or use of body filler.
  • The body is straight and the overall paint work is excellent.

Overall this car is an excellent higher end driver/show car. We have driven the car abut 200 miles since we completed the above work.  The brakes stop straight and there is no fading. Furthermore, the automatic transmission shifts smoothly in every gear. This car is a pleasure to drive with the automatic transmission, power steering, cold AC, nice radio, new tires, comfortable seats and all of the above work completed. The Series III V12 cars are ideal for people who desire or need more room (bigger or taller) than the earlier cars provided. In addition, they are wonderful for easy driving or touring cars but still have the sports car feel that had made the Jaguar E-type a legend. This Jaguar is great car for anyone in the family to drive with ease.
