At MotorCarTrader.com we take a different approach to buying and selling our classic Jaguar E-types. As opposed to pushing a large volume of cars through to quickly sell with extensive detailing prep and professional photography, we focus on going through each car mechanically to make them excellent and reliable driving cars. We have bought, sold, consulted and restored over 250 Jaguar E-types, so know them very well, how they are supposed to drive and what models need sensible upgrades to make them great drivers. Our cars are about value and the heavy work is already completed. In addition, we are fully transparent with imperfections or additional needs our cars may have.
We are so very excited to offer this rare and special 1968 Jaguar E-type Series 1.5 Fixed head Coupe. This wonderful Jaguar E-type was built on June 13th of 1968 and the date of dispatch was June 26 of 1968. This is a matching numbers car finished in the original color combination of Ascot Fawn with Beige interior. We do have the Heritage Certificate confirming all numbers and the original color. The XKE presented here is particularly rare as there was only 1,565 Series 1.5 Fixed Coupes produced and less than 100 in this color. In my opinion, after buying and selling numerous Jaguar E-types of every year, I feel the Series 1.5 is the best year to own. It offers the best of all worlds for driving with excellent creature comforts, the Series 1 look, with Series 2 reliability, better cooling and a stunning appearance. This car was owned by the well-known automotive journalist Jamie Kitman. Mr. Kitman commissioned a Jaguar E-type specialist to complete a full restoration of the car. There was one owner between Mr. Kitmans’s ownership and ours. We sold this car in 2022 to a collector in the Northwest and recently purchased the car back from our meticulous client. This Jaguar E-type has records going back to 1991 and also included are restoration pictures and invoices.
There were several articles written about this amazing Jaguar E-type on Motor Trend and also Road and Track magazines. The articles can be viewed at:
Am I a Jaguar E-Type Type? Maybe, Maybe Not.
The Jaguar E-Type Lives Up to the Hype
This is one of our favorite Jaguar E-types we have ever offered for sale. It is great history, but this car truly shines on the road. This Jaguar has excellent throttle response with great torque. The clutch engages smooth with no slippage and the gearbox is precise with no noises in any of the gears. The overall handling of this car is exceptional and very tight at ANY speed. It is stable with no shake in the steering wheel and inspires confidence at any speed in any type of traffic. If you like driving, there is no way you will be the slightest bit disappointed in the exceptional driving experience in this car and not all e-types drive like this one. This is a very special car that has always been meticulously cared for and driven by careful owners. In addition, it has also been maintained and restored by specialists who know Jaguar E-types. Don’t let this opportunity pass you buy to own a great E-type to enjoy!
