We are ecstatic to offer this stunning 1965 Jaguar E-type Series 1 4.2 Roadster This beautiful 1965 Jaguar E-type was built on April 2nd of 1965 and the date of dispatch was April 9th of 1965. This matching numbers Jaguar E-type was an original California car and the Heritage Certificate is included. We purchased this car from the son of the long-term owner, Mr. Toler. As we understand, Mr. Toler (the father), the Toler family owned this Jaguar for over 40 years.  The car was previously restored and Mr. Toler was active in the Northern Ohio Jaguar Club. We purchased this E-type in November of 2023 from Mr. Toler’s son (pictured below as a young man) and the car had been sitting in dry storage for several years. The son had an appraisal completed in September of 2015 and the car was appraised at $140,000. This was prior to our extensive refresh started in 2024 and completed in 2025. The car was off the road for several years when we purchased the car. It was for the most part in similar condition to when the appraisal was done. We have pictures of when we purchased in Ohio in November of 2023 and when the car was back at our shop in Cornelius, NC prior to the refresh we commissioned.

After a thorough inspection of this 1965 Jaguar, we planned a strategy to revise and refresh the car withs some sensible upgrades. When we purchased the car, it was Sable with Black interior. We decided to repaint the car in Sable as it had been most of its life, and although the black interior was in excellent condition, we thought Biscuit with Sable would make this car truly stunning and unique.  The paint on the car was very nice old and would have looked great as a nice driver, but because the entire car was so well maintained, we deemed it worthy of a fresh paint job in addition to the new interior and other work we commissioned. The engine was also previously rebuilt during the prior restoration. The following is the work we had completed, but not limited to from 2024 through 2025 and invested over $75,000 improving this special Jaguar E-type.

  • All chrome, body trim, gaskets (new gaskets installed on reassembly) removed, and the complete exterior of the car was repainted Sable and underside of bonnet painted Sable as well.
  • We purchased a major interior kit for a 1965 Jaguar E-type Series 1 Roadster in Biscuit Tan leather with a new Stayfast Tan Canvas top and Stayfast Tan Canvas Boot cover.
  • The fuel system drained. The fuel lines were flushed. All hard fuel lines were replaced in the trunk and new fuel filter installed. A new fuel tank was installed.
  • The original triple SU Carburetors were rebuilt, polished and throttle linkages and choke were set. New air filter installed.
  • The brake system was completely gone through. New brake pads, calipers and rotors were installed. New parking brake pads were installed, and the parking brake caliper was rebuilt. The brake fluid reservoirs and floats were replaced. New brake flex lines for the front and rear of the car were installed. The brake hydraulics were flushed and bled.
  • The clutch hydraulics were replaced with new clutch master and slave cylinders. Also new clutch hose with a new clutch reservoir.
  • The rear end or IRS and differential were removed for an overhaul. The rear shocks and springs were replaced. New wheel bearings installed. The stub axles were rebuilt. A new pinion seal was installed with a new differential cover plate gasket. The differential was painted in the OEM Jaguar color and differential was refilled with new gear oil. The radius arm bushings were replaced with arms blasted and painted. The half shaft and driveshaft U-joints were replaced. A new transmission output seal was installed with new exhaust mounts.
  • A new front suspension restoration kit was installed which included control arm bushings, upper and lower ball joints, sway bar and link bushings, front shocks and bellows, steering rack mounts and wheel bearings. A new set of inner tie rod ends were installed. The steering rack was gone through. All steering components were cleaned, blasted and painted.
  • All electrical gone through and checked for proper function.
  • New stainless center spoke chrome wire wheels installed with new knock offs/spinners and also new 205/70 R15 Uniroyal Radials installed.

  • New Retro Becker Europa radio installed with Bluetooth connectivity with new speakers.
  • An upgraded aluminum radiator was installed with electric cooling fans.
  • A new complete cooling hose kit was installed.
  • A new thermostat and thermostatic switch were installed.
  • A new fuel pump was installed.
  • A compression test was performed, and the results were excellent of 150 to 155 psi across all 6 cylinders.
  • A new driver belt was installed.
  • A new gear reduction starter was installed.
  • A new battery was installed.
  • New engine mounts were installed.

  • A 15” smaller diameter original style steering wheel was installed with new steering column bushing kit installed and the steering hub polished.
  • New door handle locks installed.
  • The original cylinder head sent out to be decked and pressure tested after a head gasket leak. A new head gasket was installed and the original cylinder head installed back on the car as well.
  • A new speedometer cable was installed and a Speedhut GPS Speedometer drive was installed for accurate speedometer MPH readings.
  • A new heater motor installed.
  • Interior lights upgraded with the LED conversion kit installed for better visibility at night.
  • A new stainless steel full exhaust system was installed.

This car was brought back to be even better than when Mr. Toler showed this wonderful car at multiple Jaguar (JCNA) and car shows in the Northern Ohio region during his ownership. There were several sensible upgrades made to the car with an emphasis on drivability as these cars are meant to be enjoyed and driven as regularly as they can be. We have invoices dating back to the late 1970s on this car as well as a newspaper article where this car was mentioned at an event where Mr. Toler had this car on display.  Furthermore, we have trophies, judging sheets, older pictures, and books to whow the special history associated with this car. This is gorgeous example of a Jaguar E-type and ready for the next owner/caretaker to enjoy.
