SOLD: 1966 Jaguar E-type Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe with Air Conditioning

SOLD: We are excited to offer another beautiful Jaguar E-type. This 1966 Jaguar E-type Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe was built on November 4 of 1965 and the date of dispatch was November 22 of 1965. It is in the original color combination as per the Jaguar Heritage Certificate.  It has been refinished in its original exterior color of Cream while still wearing its original Black leather seats. The car was originally sold by Frank Millard Sports Cars, Inc. of Encino, California to Virginia and Dr. James Tilden of  Los Angeles, CA. This car is very rare as this Jaguar E-type is equipped with the dealer installed Cool Aire console air conditioning system and is fully functional and blows cold air today.

The Jaguar E-type presented here is an original California car, but moved around a bit until it found its long term home in Phoenix Arizona in 1973. We purchased this car in 2023 from the owner whose ownership spanned the last 50 years. The car only had 42,645 miles when we purchased the car. It now has 42,700 miles and counting, as we drive our cars. The previous owner took meticulous car of the car over the years and climate was conducive to this type of car.  This Jaguar was used sparingly over the past few years so we had to go through the car and investe over $20,000 into the car to make it an excellent higher end driver to be enjoyed.  As a result this car runs, drives, shifts and stops excellent.  As mentioned earlier the car was very well maintained, but needed attention to bring it back to its former driving glory.  Most of the work we had completed was as follows:

  • Removed head to replace leaking head gasket.
  • Replaced head studs.
  • Electric cooling fan added and wired to ignition for better cooling.
  • Brake switch replaced.
  • Front calipers replaced.
  • Brake lines replaced.
  • Outer tie rods replaced.
  • Upper ball joints replaced.
  • Wheel bearings tightened.
  • Steering rack mounts replaced.
  • Alignment completed.
  • Stainless steel complete muffler system installed.
  • Dry ice blasting of the engine and underside.
  • Engine detailed with polishing valve covers and dash pods.
  • Both door switches repaired and map light wiring repaired.
  • Underside of the car, degreased, cleaned and lightly undercoated.
  • Vacuum line to the brake booster replaced.
  • New brake booster.
  • Clutch pedal adjusted.
  • New speedometer cable installed with new angle drive.
  • Original style radio installed.
  • Heater core replaced.
  • Air conditioning system repaired converted to R134a to blow cold.
  • Repaired heater vent flap.
  • Bleed brakes
  • Heat vent flap repaired.
  • Removed and restore water tank.
  • Removed and oil heater fan motor.
  • Replaced clutch slave and bleed
  • Driver side and passenger side doors adjusted.
  • Grease all fittings on the car.
  • Replaced head gasket.
  • Inspect and restore inside of valve covers where needed.
  • Carburetors balanced and gone through.
  • Compression test performed and the compression is excellent at 145 psi to 150 psi across all 6 cylinders.
  • New battery installed.
  • Pertronix electronic ignition installed with new spark plugs and ignition coil.
  • Front shocks replaced.

Overall this car is wonderful high end driver with nice history, low mileage and rare Air Conditioning for an earlier Jaguar E-type Series 1 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe. In addition, this E-type comes with the original owners manual, original pouch, warranty card with original owners name and original dealership’s name, Jaguar periodic maintenance voucher stamped up to 11,863 miles, original Jaguar maintenance chart, Heritage Certificate and service records.  It is wonderful car that is an absolute blast to drive and enjoy, and of course is a Series 1 Fixed Coupe which is arguably one of the best looking cars of all time.

SOLD: 1970 Jaguar E-type Series 2 Fixed Head Coupe

SOLD:

We are proud to offer this beautiful 1970 Jaguar E-type Series II Fixed Head Coupe. This Jaguar was built on October 8th of 1969 and the date of dispatch was November 5th 1969. The first owner was Mr. Cotton Guio of Big Piney in Wyoming USA.  This great car is the original color combination of Regency Red with biscuit/tan interior. It has history, receipts and correspondence going back to 1973. It was never abused and always kept up with the utmost care. We are privileged to have owned this car several times for the pas 14 years. Our original purchase of this car was in 2010 from a gentleman in NC who owned this car since the early 2000s. We then sold it to a collector in NY who had it for a few years, but unfortunately and unexpectedly passed away. We purchased the car back from his family and did some refresh work to the engine. We then sold the car to another nice man in Maine who had the car for 3 years. He enjoyed the car, but did not drive it a lot only placing less than 700 miles on the car. We then sold this Jaguar to a nice couple near Portland, OR. They owned the car since 2015 and placed about 4,000 miles on the car. This is a very special Jaguar E-type Coupe. There are not a lot of Jaguar E-types that drive as well as this one does. It shifts perfect and handles exceptional. This is a car for someone who is going to drive it and enjoy the car! The interior was redone and looks better than new. In addition, the paint, while not brand new was redone as well and looks beautiful on the car.  Furthermore, the engine was rebuilt at 83,750 miles. The car has 88,227 original miles, so to put this in perspective on a 54 year old car, it has averaged 1,631 miles per year with most of the miles placed on this car early in its life. There were only about 18,000 miles placed on this great Jaguar since 1979. The carburetors have also been rebuilt.  Some of the work completed more recently between 2/2012 – 8/2024 mostly by our shop (not including the previous work done to this car such as engine rebuild, new interior, paint, etc.):

  •  Adjusted Valves
  • Rebuilt carburetors
  • New rings
  • Decarbonized Pistons and Valves
  •  New rod Bearings
  • New oil Pump
  • New Oil and Filter
  • Cleaned fuel tank sump
  •  New fuel pump
  • New Door Weather stripping
  • New hatch weather strip
  • New cowl weather strip
  • New Interior panel on rear hatch (had partial tear)
  • New signal flasher
  • Cleaned and detailed underside
  • Cleaned and detailed engine compartment
  • New halogen bulbs
  • New fan belts
  • New gear reduction starter
  • New Temperature sending unit
  • New fan relay
  • New radiator fan switch
  • New thermostat
  • New shocks
  • New interior felt behind seats.
  • Exhaust manifolds ceramic coated.
  •  New stainless steel exhaust installed.
  • Brake calipers rebuild.
  • New brake booster and master cylinder.
  • New steering rack mounts.
  • New temperature gauge.
  • New upper and lower ball joints.
  • New cooling hose kit.
  • New water pump installed.
  • New retro radio installed.
  • Transmission fluid service.

Over $10,000 invested in the fall of 2024 in improvements and service work. Overall, mechanically this car is excellent. The compression is 150 to 160 psi on every cylinder and the oil pressure is also excellent. Also, it is in great shape cosmetically with an excellent body and structurally sound. The floors are solid and there is no rust on this car anywhere. It really needs nothing to be enjoyed. If you are looking for a fun Jaguar E-type to frequently drive and enjoy, this would be the perfect car for you.

SOLD: 1930 Mercedes-Benz 260 Stuttgart Cabriolet C

  • Purchased by Max Garrison while stationed in Germany as a Medic in the United State Air Force during the Korean War.
  • Garrison shipped this vehicle to the United Stated in the 1950s and titled in North Carolina in 1955 where it has spent the past nearly 70 years.
  • The car went through an 8 year meticulous restoration from the late 1980s to early 1990s.

When Daimler and Benz entered into a community of interest in 1924, heated debates between the two companies were almost instantaneous and continual. While a common goal existed between the two companies, a contentious past between them was certain to cause riffs—and it did. Both agreed the company needed to produce a midsized car to service the sizeable and potentially lucrative midsize market, along with commercial, military and government interests, but reaching that common goal wasn’t going to be simple.
